Can you show Transportstyrelsen's "Fordonets skulder" (vehicle debt) service, or otherwise confirm there is no outstanding vehicle tax, congestion charge, or parking-fine debt tied to this vehicle? Unpaid vehicle debt transfers to the new owner in Sweden, not the previous one, and can lead to Kronofogden seizing the car.
Can you show the receipt for the new cam belt and the service-stamp showing mileage/date when it was done?
Please provide the stamped service book entries or service invoices for recent maintenance (oil/filter and other work).
When was the last besiktning and can you provide the inspection report (date and results)?
Have you checked the VIN with Volvo for open recalls and, if so, can you show proof whether recall fixes were completed?
How many previous owners and what type of previous ownership (private/company) — can you provide ägarbevis or an ownership history?

Never pay a deposit or the full price before you've seen and test-driven the car in person — be wary of pressure to decide immediately ("today only" pricing), or a seller who avoids meeting or an independent inspection.
Pay by bank transfer or Swish, never cash to someone you haven't met or verified, and complete the registered ownership transfer (ägarbyte) digitally at handover rather than leaving it for later.
Check and copy the cam-belt receipt and verify mileage/date against the odometer.
Start cold and watch/listen for turbo lag/smoke; road-test under load to check turbo response and transmission behaviour.
Check for DPF regeneration issues and test for excessive smoke or diesel smell; ask for a diagnostic scan for DPF codes.
Inspect suspension for play/noise and check shock absorbers and bushings for wear.
Inspect for oil leaks (engine, turbo, gearbox) and check transmission shifting for slipping or harsh changes.
Verify AC performance and that both remote keys work; confirm tyres (summer/winter) condition and matching.
Request a full VIN check (ownership, mileage history if available, recall completion) and consider an independent mechanic's inspection.
