How buying a car works in Sweden

Completing the ownership transfer

Once buyer and seller agree on a price, both sign a köpekontrakt (bill of sale) recording the vehicle, price, condition, and date of sale. Either party then reports the change of ownership (ägarbyte) through Transportstyrelsen's e-service, which formally registers the buyer as the new legal owner. Until that step is done, the seller remains registered — and liable — for the vehicle.

Each report combines the Blocket listing with official registry data (car.info / biluppgifter), official EU recall data (EU Safety Gate), and community-sourced known-issue research for the model. Every section states which of these it draws on, and whether that source was available for this specific report — see "Sources checked" on each report. Community-sourced content is clearly distinguished from official data throughout; neither is presented with more certainty than it actually has.
