Bring this along to a viewing — it's a starting point, not a substitute for an in-person inspection by a qualified mechanic.

Questions to ask the seller
- Can you show Transportstyrelsen's "Fordonets skulder" (vehicle debt) service, or otherwise confirm there is no outstanding vehicle tax, congestion charge, or parking-fine debt tied to this vehicle? Unpaid vehicle debt transfers to the new owner in Sweden, not the previous one, and can lead to Kronofogden seizing the car.
- Can you provide original service invoices and inspection (besiktning) certificates that show continuous, non-decreasing mileage over time?
- Why does the registry/inspection history show 115,000 km → 113,290 km → 114,240 km? Please provide a written explanation and supporting documents.
- Please supply the written details of the advertised 1-year warranty (start date, what it covers, and any deductibles).
- Do you have any insurance repair invoices or accident reports for this car? If none, can you provide a signed statement that no insurance repairs were done?
- Show the full ownership history and explain the reasons for the car changing owners eight times.
- Have any major diesel-related components (DPF, turbo) been serviced or replaced? Provide invoices if so.
What to check in person
- Never pay a deposit or the full price before you've seen and test-driven the car in person — be wary of pressure to decide immediately ("today only" pricing), or a seller who avoids meeting or an independent inspection.
- Pay by bank transfer or Swish, never cash to someone you haven't met or verified, and complete the registered ownership transfer (ägarbyte) digitally at handover rather than leaving it for later.
- Verify VIN on the car matches registry and all listed documents.
- Compare odometer reading to service and besiktning records; have an independent mechanic check for tampering.
- Underbody and structural inspection for signs of repairs, welding, or replaced panels (insurance-related damage).
- Check for excessive smoke on cold start and perform a road test focused on turbo response and gear shifts.
- Review and photocopy service invoices, inspection certificates, and any warranty paperwork before signing.
- Test all electronics listed (backkamera, keyless start, parking sensors) during the test drive for faults.
- Measure tire tread depth and check for uneven wear that could indicate suspension or alignment issues.
